Straight Acting 2024

Standing still, not to be seen, hiding in plain sight. I can pass as straight to get on, fit in. I was happy  hiding my queerness, it made life easy,  especially as a young man. The border is my true self as a young man… wild and fecund. The heavy oppressive frame could represent society holding me in, trying to force me to conform.

Digital photograph with watercolour and gouache in reclaimed frame

Unique piece
