This portrait is in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery and they exhibited it in a show of fashion portraits alongside Testino, Parkinson, Klein and others.
I met Corinne Day backstage at a London fashion show. David Shilling introduced me. When I later made contact about doing the portrait she was in hospital being treated for the brain tumour that would become fatal. I could come there and do it, she said.
On the day Corinne was a little bombed from the drugs but wanted to help make a good picture, she suggested poses and moved the curtain. I love her eyes
