David was a visionary art dealer and such a sweet gentle soul of a man. He was the first person to show the controversial photographs of Robert Mappelthorpe. My friend Ian Cassidy’s father owned the warehouse next to David’s in Metropolitan Wharf. We crashed at David’s a couple of times sleeping under one the Mappelthorpe’s as there were no facilities in our warehouse. David was friends with Brian Clarke who was a lover of my friend Jake Dodds, which is how we knew him. David showed the work of Derek Jarman and John Maybury and Brian Griffin, Kevin Whitney and other avant garden artists
