Richard Buckle OBE.

I met Dickie through Patrick Procktor. He saw me on the Gallery programme I did with Paddy and Maggie Hambling and fell in love with me, calling me ‘that genius boy’ cus I got so many questions right. He wrote me strange love letters , including one written when he was staying Rudolf Nureyev’s apartment in the Dakota Building NY and gave me a Beaton print of Marianne Faithful. It’s late a night and I can’t expand on this here but he was a lovely man with a cruel sense of humour. His hair was soft as down. He was also a famous ballet critic and organised the first Beaton show at the NPG.
This picture was taken as we were leaving his London flat in Bryanston Square
