On the set of Cerith Wyn Evans’ film ‘Epiphany’. Royal College of Art. 1984

I always thought Dencil was the most exotic boy on the scene at this time. He didn’t dress as outrageously as some but he played with gender identity in a very sublet way, he always had the most smouldering looks, which oscillated between the masculine and feminine. He applied his make up sparingly, just enough to make his beauty reach it’s zenith.

He appears here with tin foil wings and white face, cast as a strange angel in Cerith’s film Epiphany, which was being shot at the Royal College of Art.
